This painting was inspired by by an article in the New York Times about a family who died, due to a suicide bomber, at a market in Kabul, Afghanistan. I cannot imagine being a child in a place where violence and random bombings are a normal way of life. This family was here one day and gone the next. My goal is to choose articles that I read from the newspaper and then develop a painting out of the article. I don't plan on them all being sad, but my hopes are to make viewers think the way these articles made me think after reading them.
I have been painting since 2007, mostly from photographs that are visually stimulating and interesting . I would like to take my interest of painting further by selling and displaying my works in galleries in the future.
