Jazzy

Felt like painting a dog today, so I chose the beautiful Jazzy.  My dog, Lilly, has an Instagram account.  Shes a goofy and fun dog so I wanted a way to share her with everyone.  Instagram was the answer.  Her username is @lillytheaussie if you ever want to check it out and give her a follow.  This has opened a whole new world of dogs for me.  I have connected with some very creative photographers and dog lovers.  While I am just getting into photography (mostly of Lilly) my number one go-to for creativity is painting.  I love to paint and I love dogs, so that is prbably why you see so many dogs in my work!  So I decided to ask Instagram followers to tag their pups with #paintingsbykellidogs so I can have the chance to paint some of their lovely companions.  They are not obligated to purchase if I choose a photo, but they can if they would like to.  I am working paintings whenever I can get the time in between work and keeping Lilly entertained. Hope you enjoy the sweet face of Jazzy.

Gigi the Giraffe

Enjoyed a morning of painting today.  This was my first attempt at a wild animal and it was pretty fun and different.  I have always loved giraffes.  They are very unique animals and I am always amazed, no matter how old I get, at how long their necks are.

Be Brave

This painting was inspired by current events.  My heart hurts for the girls and their families in Nigeria.  This happens in many countries, including the United States, where women are taken and sold as if they were a commodity.  This painting represents the girls who are missing and in hope that human trafficking will one day be a thing of the past.

Simply Happy

Here is Lilly the Aussie.  I did this painting from a photo I had of Lilly on a day that we were doing one of her favorite things-- playing ball.  It was just something fun and bright to get back into the oils again...its been too long.
