A Girl From Kabul

22"x 28", oil on canvas.

This painting was inspired by by an article in the New York Times about a family who died, due to a suicide bomber, at a market in Kabul, Afghanistan. I cannot imagine being a child in a place where violence and random bombings are a normal way of life. This family was here one day and gone the next. My goal is to choose articles that I read from the newspaper and then develop a painting out of the article. I don't plan on them all being sad, but my hopes are to make viewers think the way these articles made me think after reading them.

Here is the news article from the NY Times:

Hi Kelli,
This is very nice, but it does make me sad.
